Drinking Guidelines: General Population

This table details recommendations for alcohol consumption (drinking guidelines) issued by government bodies in various countries. Generally, these recommendations apply to healthy adults. It is specified when other groups are the targets of the recommendations. Please note that guidelines for women who are pregnant, may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding are detailed separately in the Drinking Guidelines: Pregnancy and Breastfeeding table.

Standard drinks are shown in grams of ethanol, or as described in the source document.

This table is updated on an ongoing basis as government entities publish and revise their guidelines. It was last updated overall in July 2018.
